In RE we will be considering two big questions: 'How far does following God bring justice and freedom?’ and ‘What do religions say to us when life gets hard?’
Our first question includes work on the story of Moses and ‘The 10 Commandments’. We identify how some people put their beliefs into practice by trying to bring freedom to others, as well as investigating human rights and those that have fought for freedom and justice.
Our second question ‘What do religions say to us when life gets hard?’ covers key concepts surrounding life and death. It examines similarities and differences between Christian, Muslim and Hindu beliefs, relating to judgement and reincarnation. We also explore how Christian funerals reflect Christian beliefs and consider Christian beliefs about the afterlife.
Hopefully we will, as last year, have a visit from Mrs Ashelby to strengthen our learning through a question and answer session.
If you have any worries surrounding the sensitivity of your child to this second topic and would like to know more about what will be discussed, then please just get in contact and we can arrange a time to go through it with you.
