One of the most important things that each class does each day is listening to an adult read aloud! Reading aloud slows written language down and allows children to hear and take in tunes and patterns. It also gives children access and enjoy stories and texts that they might not otherwise have met or choose to read independently. Through reading aloud, our classes share experiences of a wide repertoire of books they enjoy and get to know well.
Our reading routines at the end of the day are prioritised and established. The books chosen to read are planned for across the school and include chances for the children to focus on an author and their range of books more closely.
