Maths:

L.O: to add pounds and pence with renaming

Today’s lesson is very similar to yesterday, looking at adding together different amounts of money, however this time you will need to draw out the pounds and pence column additions yourself.

To start with answer your ‘In Focus’ question which is on the first page. As we would normally discuss this with our partners at school, see if there is an adult or older brother or sister to talk to about it. Please use the box on this page record your answer and methods.

Next look at the ‘Guided Practice’ which shows you some of the different style questions. I have shown my methods and left the answers on the worksheet so you can see the setting out and how to go about answering these types of questions.

Now it is your turn! Have a go at the ‘Independent Practice’ which is a copy of the worksheet that you would have completed in your MNP workbooks at school.

If you feel up for it, have a go at the challenge! Good luck!

English:

L.O: to engage with a text

Over the next six English lessons we will be completing a series of lessons on the Oak National Academy with Mr Byrne-Smith. The text we will be looking at during these lessons is ‘Into the Forest’ by Anthony Brown.

First the teacher will introduce the author and illustrator of the story (you might have already heard of him or read his books before). You will then look at the front cover of the story and think about what clues this gives us about the story.

As the story is a fairy tale, see if you can remember any features of a fairy tale and write these down. This is the only writing you need to do for this lesson. Mr Byrne-Smith will then go through his list, see how many you could remember.

You will then start to read the first few pages of the book. Don’t forget to also look carefully at the pictures because these are used to help tell the story.

Reading:

Although we are in lockdown, the expectation is for the children to still read 3 times a week for 10 minutes. Below is instructions and a link to oxford owl where an account has been created to provide the children with some ebooks.

Over the past five lessons we have been reading the book ‘Lost in Space’ on Fiction Express. If you have missed any of these lessons or have forgotten what happens then please look over and skim the previous chapters before completing your task.

For today’s lesson we are going to review the book. Choose one of the layouts from below to complete.

SPAG:

L.O: to explore compound sentences

Today we will be continuing our series of lessons about word classes (different types of sentences) with Miss Saab on the Oak National Academy website.

Think back to last lesson and try to remember what a simple sentence is, Miss Saab will go through this with you if you have forgotten. Then you will go through what a compound sentence is and what is in this. Remember to pause the video when you are asked to and complete the tasks.

Art:

L.O: to create journey artwork

We have now come to the end of our art unit of work on journeys. Well done to all of you for working really hard on this and carefully reading the information on the slides over the past few weeks – there has been some fabulous artwork.

We have looked at Aboriginal art, journeys and Paul Klee. For today and next weeks lesson we will be using all of our knowledge to create two final pieces of artwork. There are four options to choose from on the art worksheet, you can complete one this week and another next week.

Have fun!
