MATHS

LO: to add unlike fractions

Today’s Maths is a consolidation of what you have learnt so far with adding unlike fractions.  To help you with today’s work, remember the skills you learnt yesterday about adding fractions with different denominators (ie making them both have the same denominator).  Please do the In Focus task and then, as previous lessons, take your time in going through the Let’s Learn so you have a solid understanding.  Remember, when you are finding equivalent fractions you need to find a common multiple to make both denominators the same.  As usual, I’ve left the answers for you in Guided Practice.  Make sure that you are working through the questions and understanding how to work them out – don’t just look at the answers.  This won’t help you when you come to completing the two worksheets.   Your answers need to be in the simplest form (a lesson from last week).  Don’t forget to have a go at the challenge.

ENGLISH

LO: to generate points for a persuasive argument

In today’s lesson you will starting to put together ideas for a persuasive letter.  You will be learning how to generate ideas in a persuasive argument to politely express your opinion and views.  As always, you will need to participate and make notes where the teacher asks you to.  You can make notes of your own too.  These will then build throughout the two weeks to enable you to complete your final independent piece of writing.  Please email your notes and persuasive comments from today’s lesson.

READING

Being Super – Chapter Four

Today, I would like you to read Chapter Four of Being Super, cast your vote as to what will happen next, complete the quiz and then write a short summary to make sure you have fully understood the plot. You can present the key points in the way which suits you best, for example, a story mountain, a series of annotated illustrations, bullet points or sentences (reading domain 2c: summarise main ideas from more than one paragraph).

There is a link for the pre-printed sheet if you would like to use it.

MUSIC

LO: to explore 2 beats in a bar

Today you will be following lesson 3 in the Rhythm and Pulse unit.  This week you are learning about music which has 2 beats in a bar.  The lesson will build on the knowledge you learnt from the previous weeks.  Once again, these lessons expect participation so if you don’t want to be lonely why not ask someone in your family to join in with you!

HANDWRITING / FRENCH

Today, I have combined handwriting and French.  Complete the sheets where you are learning the French words for animals and colours.  Please email me your completed handwriting.
