Today please could you email me your Maths, English and Art work.

I will send the video Wednesday morning to parents email addresses.

Maths:

L.O: to subtract pounds and pence with renaming

In todays lesson we will be focusing on giving change which can be a challenging concept. To help support you today, I have recorded a video going through the guided practise where I will show you a useful technique to use when giving change.

To start with answer your ‘In Focus’ question which is on the first page. As we would normally discuss this with our partners at school, see if there is an adult or older brother or sister to talk to about it. Please use the box on this page record your answer and methods.

Next look at the ‘Guided Practice’ which shows you some of the different style questions. I have recorded a video of myself going through the methods of how to solve these problems which will be emailed to you.

Now it is your turn! Have a go at the ‘Independent Practice’ which is a copy of the worksheet that you would have completed in your MNP workbooks at school.

If you feel up for it, have a go at the challenge! Good luck!

Please could you email this piece of work to me.

English:

L.O: to analyse the authors use of colour

This is the final video lesson exploring the text ‘Into the Forest’ by Anthony Browne on the Oak National Academy with Mr Byrne-Smith.

To begin, choose your favourite image out of the three given and think about why that is your favourite. You will then need to match a colour with an emotion.

Mr Byrne-Smith will then go through some different illustrations from the book that use certain colours. For each one finish the sentence given about why he has used that colour for those pictures.

For your main task, I have put the picture timeline onto a worksheet for you. I would like you to label this describing the colours that are there and why this has been done.

Please could you email this piece of work to me.

PLEASE NOTE THE ENGLISH WORKSHEET IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS ALTHOUGH IT LOOKS DISTORTED

Reading:

Although we are in lockdown, the expectation is for the children to still read 3 times a week for 10 minutes. Below is instructions and a link to oxford owl where an account has been created to provide the children with some ebooks.

Username: Leighclass3

Password: Book1234

Chapter 6 of 'The Great Rocket Robbery' is now on YouTube. I have sent an email to everyone with the link for this.

For reading today we will continue to read ‘The Island at the End of the Bed’ on Fiction Express. If you are unsure of your login, please email me at year3@leigh.covmat.org and I will resend it.

As it is our last reading lesson of the term, I would like you to finish the book by reading chapters 3, 4 and 5. You do not have to do this all today, you could read some throughout the week or over half term if you would like to.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.

SPAG:

L.O: to explore complex sentences

For SPAG we will be continuing our series of lessons about word classes. Today the lesson is with Ms Johnson on the Oak National Academy website.

First you will go over what a complex sentence is and look at examples of this. It is important to understand what a main clause and a subordinating clause is in so make sure you listen carefully.

You will then have a go at writing complex sentences yourself. Remember to pause the video when you are asked to and complete the tasks.

Art:

L.O: to create journey artwork

For Art this week you will complete another final piece of artwork as you did last lesson. You can choose a different option from the art worksheet from last week.

Have fun!

Please could you email this piece of work to me.
