Maths:

L.O: to add pence to make 1 pound

Today we will be looking at money again. Look carefully at the money and containers and add them together to see how much there is altogether.

To start with answer your ‘In Focus’ question which is on the first page. As we would normally discuss this with our partners at school, see if there is an adult or older brother or sister to talk to about it. Please use the box on this page record your answer and methods.

Next look at the ‘Guided Practice’ which shows you some of the different style questions. I have left the answers on the worksheet so you can see the setting out and how to go about answering these types of questions.

Now it is your turn! Have a go at the ‘Independent Practice’ which is a copy of the worksheet that you would have completed in your MNP workbooks at school.

If you feel up for it, have a go at the challenge! Good luck!

Please could you email this piece of work to me.

English:

L.O: to write a discussion

Today we are looking at a new discussion. Go through the slides and click on each picture to hear the different point of view from each child. What do you think the main argument is about? You can then read the text that is in our anthology on the file below.

For your task today, you are going to write your own discussion text using points made in the anthology or any that you can think of yourselves. The statement is ‘Break times should be longer’, where there is a tick you need to write a point agreeing and where there is a cross you need to write a point disagreeing.

Reading:

Although we are in lockdown, the expectation is for the children to still read 3 times a week for 10 minutes. Below is instructions and a link to oxford owl where an account has been created to provide the children with some ebooks.

For reading today we will continue to read ‘Lost in Space’ on Fiction Express. If you are unsure of your login, please email me at year3@leigh.covmat.org and I will resend it.

We will read the third chapter called, ‘A Sticky Situation’, so please select this as you open up the book. If you need to remind yourself of what happened previously then you should go back a few pages to reread this. At the end, vote on what you think happens next.

Today we will be thinking about content domain 2e - Predict what might happen from details stated and implied.

Write up your prediction about what you think happens next, be creative!

SPAG:

L.O: to explore simple sentences

Today for SPAG you will be going on the Oak National Academy website to begin a new series of lessons about word classes (different types of sentences).

Your lesson today is with Miss Saab. Begin by thinking about what a verb is and then you will learn a catchy rap to remember the definition. Once you have practised identifying verbs, you will look at different clauses and what this means. You will then look at simple sentences and will have a go at writing them on your own. Remember to pause the video when you are asked to and complete the tasks.

Please could you email this piece of work to me.

Art:

L.O: to investigate the work of Paul Klee

Look at the slides to be introduced to Paul Klee, who he was and some of his work. Think about our symbols and journey work and see if you can spot any in his artwork.

Today you will be creating a piece of artwork inspired by the work of Paul Klee by taking your pencil for a walk. Look at the pictures on the slides to see how this can be done. You can use the sections you create with your pencil to add creative patterns and colours.
