Three tasks to send in today: English, Reading and Maths.  Remember to send in all parts of the task and read the tasks and questions carefully.

You Tube video links sent by email:

Maths: (1) 'In Focus & Let's Learn' (2) Guided Practice & Independent Practice

Story: Lost Chapter 4 & 5

9:00 – 9:45 Reading (SEND IN)

LO: To consider a character’s perspective and themes within a text. (Goodnight Mister Tom)

Today you will continue reading Chapter 8 and think about how William feels when he has to talk about something he is ashamed of and consider the themes within the book.  Use the worksheet provided to help guide you through the mini-tasks throughout the lesson.  The writing task is the task in English below   …. This is why Reading is first today, as you will need to have watched this video first.

9:45 – 10:45 English (SEND IN)

LO: To write a letter from a character’s perspective.

Today’s reading lesson also includes a writing outcome – a letter, so I haven’t set a separate English task today, as I want you to spend time really making the letter good quality.  Really try and include all of the aspects you have been learning about in our ‘Golden Compass’ unit as much as possible: using ambitious vocabulary, varied sentence structures (relative clauses, ‘ing’ starts, fronted adverbials). Use the worksheet below to help you think about the letter - remember to write in letter style.

Mrs. Holdaway’s Group

Unjumble the letter in the document below.

11:00 – 12:00 Maths (SEND IN)

Maths No Problem

LO:  To use simple formulae.

Make sure you have the You Tube video that goes over the ‘In Focus’, but also the ‘Guided Practice’ and the worksheet if needed.  You CAN DO THIS!

Task:

  1. Go through the ‘In Focus’ task with me on the video.
  2. Complete the ‘Guided Practice’ on the worksheet, with me on the video.  Remember that you can type into the text boxes that I’ve put in for you.
  3. Worksheet.  Complete questions 1.  If your feeling confident complete Q2 – remember that the fraction line just means divide.

Extension: Complete the challenge question.

Mrs. Holdaway’s Group

LO: Investigating multiplication patterns.

In this lesson you will continue to look at different sized grids which are shaded with different multiplication tables.

  1. Work through the tasks and main learning.  Use the worksheet slides- there are quite a few of these to print out.  If you haven’t got a printer, then you could draw them or just look at the answers with the teacher.

1:00 – 2:00 DT

LO: To be able to make a burger and evaluate the process.

Today, you will be making your own burgers that you planned last week. Re-look at the instructions for the burgers we made a few weeks ago to remind yourself of the process and look at your plan from last week.  Remember to re-read the food safety and hygiene poster before you begin.

Task:

  • Read the information slideshow.
  • Make your burger!
  • Evaluate your burger using the worksheet.

Enjoy yourself!

2:30 – 3:00 FRENCH

Today, you will be learning how to say ‘I like..’.  After revising the animal nouns, you will then learn how to change them to their plural forms.   Finally you will put this knowledge together to be able to say which animals you like in a sentence.  Make sure that you keep pausing the video throughout to practise.  Remember to click on the ‘key words’ as we have done each week, so that you can practise.
