Maths:

L.O: to write volume in l and ml

For our lesson today we will be measuring capacity in ml and l. You will need to first read the different measuring beakers and then decide if you need to add or subtract to volumes. For the first page, try counting up in steps of 50 or 100 to help you.

To start with answer your ‘In Focus’ question which is on the first page. As we would normally discuss this with our partners at school, see if there is an adult or older brother or sister to talk to about it. Please use the box on this page record your answer and methods.

Next look at the ‘Guided Practice’ which shows you some of the different style questions. I have left the answers on the worksheet so you can see the setting out and how to go about answering these types of questions.

Now it is your turn! Have a go at the ‘Independent Practice’ which is a copy of the worksheet that you would have completed in your MNP workbooks at school.

If you feel up for it, have a go at the challenge! Good luck!

Please could you email this piece of work to me.

English:

L.O: to write a sci-fi story (day one)

We have now come to the end of our topic of sci-fi stories so today and tomorrow we will be completing our Independent Extended Write. You have got two days for this, so take your time and think carefully about what you would like to write. Remember this is independent so you can discuss your ideas with an adult, but your writing should be done yourself.

You are going to write a sci-fi story of your choice. This can be about anything, you can base it off the Tale of Two Robots if you would like to. Think carefully (you may need to look back at previous lessons) about what language is included in sci-fi stories. I have included a check list below to help you.

Reading:

Although we are in lockdown, the expectation is for the children to still read 3 times a week for 10 minutes. Below is instructions and a link to oxford owl where an account has been created to provide the children with some ebooks.

Over the past five lessons we have been reading the book ‘Maximus Gladiator’ on Fiction Express. If you have missed any of these lessons or have forgotten what happens then please look over and skim the previous chapters before completing your task

For today’s lesson we are thinking about content domain: 2c - Summarise main ideas from more than one paragraph. So, for your task I would like you to summarise the story of ‘Maximus Gladiator’. Remember that summaries do not go into much detail and briefly tells you what happens so this should not be too long.

SPAG:

L.O: to use apostrophes for possession

Today for SPAG you will be going on the Oak National Academy website to complete the second apostrophe lesson with Ms Waddell. Today it is about how to use apostrophes for possession.

You will first be reminded of some of the key and the two main uses of apostrophes. The video focusses on using apostrophes for contraction.

Ms Waddell will tell you the tasks you need to complete during the video. Remember to use effective vocabulary in your sentences. After you can check your sentences are correct on the video.

Art:

L.O: to represent objects and features

Begin by going through the slides and thinking about a familiar journey that you make a lot (e.g. the journey to school, from home to a friend’s house, from school to a club, etc.) and what you pass and see on this journey. Look at the map of Betty’s journey to school and have a look at the things she passes and how these could be represented by symbols.

Today you will be creating a piece of artwork to represent a familiar journey, using symbols. Look carefully through the slides which takes you through how to do this, step by step.
