Maths:

L.O: to solve word problems

Today will be our final lesson of learning about weight. You will need to use all the skills you have learnt to solve the word problems in the workbook.

To start with answer your ‘In Focus’ question which is on the first page. As we would normally discuss this with our partners at school, see if there is an adult or older brother or sister to talk to about it. Please use the box on this page record your answer and methods.

There is no ‘Guided Practice’ today, if you need help, look at the previous few days to support you with setting out.

Now it is your turn! Have a go at the ‘Independent Practice’ which is a copy of the worksheet that you would have completed in your MNP workbooks at school.

If you feel up for it, have a go at the challenge! Good luck!

Please could you email this piece of work to me.

English:

L.O: to write an opening

If you need to remind yourself of ‘A Tale of Two Robots’ begin todays lesson by rereading the story.

Over the next few days, we will be coming up with a new adventure story for Nita and Robert the robots. Poor Nita and Robert spend all their time inside tidying up Callum and Shannon’s messy rooms, so they decide they need a day out!

For today’s task, you will write an opening paragraph for our new chapter in the story beginning with Nita and Robert being fed up. Think about answering these questions in your paragraph, how are they feeling? Why are they so fed up? What might they think of to cheer themselves up?

They should not leave the house yet, we will work on those paragraphs tomorrow.

Look at the build your paragraph worksheet to help you.

Please could you email this piece of work to me.

For reading today we will continue to read ‘Maximus Gladiator’ on Fiction Express. If you are unsure of your login, please email me at year3@leigh.covmat.org and I will resend it.

We will read the third chapter, ‘The Spartan’, so please select this as you open up the book. If you need to remind yourself of what happened previously then you should go back a few pages to reread this. At the end of the chapter, vote on what you think Max should do next.

Today’s questions are from content domain 2g - Identify/explain how meaning is enhanced through choice of words and phrases.

  1.  Describe the Spartan.
  2.  How do we know that the man in the white toga is rich?
  3.  Find and copy three verbs that describe the chase.

SPAG:

L.O: to use apostrophes for contraction

Today for SPAG you will be going on the Oak National Academy website to complete a lesson with Ms Waddell all about apostrophes.

You will first look at some of the key vocabulary you will need to know for the lesson. Then you will be reminded of the main uses of apostrophes. The video focusses on using apostrophes for contraction.

For your task, when asked to you will need to pause the video to complete the tasks. Ms Waddell will go through the answers with you too so you can check if you are correct.

Art:

L.O: to create a piece of Aboriginal journey work

Think back to last lesson and what you can remember about Aboriginal art and symbols. Look carefully at the slides which show you what Dreamtime stories are and what they mean for the Aboriginal people.

Read the dreamtime story about the Rainbow Serpent and if you would like to, use a pencil and a piece of paper to draw the journey as you read it.

For your task today you are going to have a go at creating your own Aboriginal dreamtime journey painting. Follow the steps on the slide to help you. Remember that you must use dots.  You can use whatever equipment you have at home, crayons, felt tips, paints etc. You can use sticks or cotton buds to create the dots.
