Today please could you email me your Maths and Geography work, I will also expect you to have completed the reading quiz online.

Maths:

L.O: to add pounds and pence with renaming

This week we will be continuing to look in more detail at money and using this knowledge in different contexts. Look carefully at the food items and answer the questions

To start with answer your ‘In Focus’ question which is on the first page. As we would normally discuss this with our partners at school, see if there is an adult or older brother or sister to talk to about it. Please use the box on this page record your answer and methods.

Next look at the ‘Guided Practice’ which shows you some of the different style questions. I have left the answers on the worksheet so you can see the setting out and how to go about answering these types of questions.

Now it is your turn! Have a go at the ‘Independent Practice’ which is a copy of the worksheet that you would have completed in your MNP workbooks at school.

Please could you email this piece of work to me.

English:

L.O: to plan a discussion

For today’s lesson, you will be having a go at writing your own discussion on this question: which is the best pet, a cat or a dog?

Think carefully about what makes a dog/cat a good pet and read the two information leaflets. Which side do you agree with? On the worksheet, come up with three reasons for each side, these can be ones you agree with from the leaflet or your own ideas. Today you only need to take notes and tomorrow we will be writing this up as a discussion text.

Reading:

Although we are in lockdown, the expectation is for the children to still read 3 times a week for 10 minutes. Below is instructions and a link to oxford owl where an account has been created to provide the children with some ebooks.

L.O: to answer questions

For reading today we will continue to read ‘Lost in Space’ on Fiction Express. If you are unsure of your login, please email me at year3@leigh.covmat.org and I will resend it.

We will read the fourth chapter called, ‘Hot Stuff!’, so please select this as you open the book. If you need to remind yourself of what happened previously then you should go back a few pages to reread this. At the end, vote on how you think they will get the sphere back.

For today’s task please complete the multiple-choice quiz. You can choose between completing it online or downloading it and printing it out. It is useful if you do this online as I have access to view everybody’s answers.

This is one of the pieces of work you must do today but you do not need to send this to me as I can see everyone's scores.

Geography:

L.O: explore how food is produced in Mediterranean climate zones

Begin the lesson by looking through the first few slides which shows a climate zone map. Can you see which climate zone Italy is in? Do you know anything about the climate conditions in Italy? Read through the rest of the slides all about Italy and how, because of the climate, certain foods grow well.

Can you think of some Italian foods that you like? Do you like any of these? Look at the different Italian foods and the main types of farming in southern Italy. The slides show you how British farmers are also able to grow tomatoes using conditions similar to that in Italy.

For your task today you will need to read the descriptions of three fields on a farm in Italy and then read the yellow Crops and Livestock cards. See if you can match at least two cards to each correct field. If you’re up for a challenge you can have a go at matching all of them!

Please could you email me this piece of work.

Music:

L.O: to explore 3 beats in a bar

Today’s music lesson will be lesson 4 on pulse and rhythm taught by Mr Palekar an Oak National Academy.

You will start off by going over ‘Crazy Glue’ and the cup game from last lesson. You will then explore music with 3 beats in a bar and learn a song.

For this lesson you will need a plastic cup or beaker as you will practising the cup game. The lesson will require lots of singing, clapping and tapping so make sure you are somewhere where you will not disturb anyone!
