Three tasks to send in today: English, Maths and Science.  Remember to send in all parts of the task and read the tasks and questions carefully.

9:00 – 10:00 English (SEND IN)

LO: To develop text cohesion through use of adverbials.

In this lesson, you will review your understanding of adverbials to support text cohesion and then write adverbials to support the flow of your writing in the next writing outcome: a diary entry.  Don’t forget that we will be sending our writing to Philip Pullman himself, so really go for it.

Task:

  1. Follow the lesson through.
  2. Use the worksheet to complete the mini-task in the lesson, then the main task, where you will write adverbials to link parts of a scene.

10:00 – 10:45 Arithmetic

Task:

  1. Complete Paper 4
  2. Self-mark your work: can you find one great mistake that you made? 
  3. Choose one of the questions you made a mistake with and find a video online (Corbett Maths is great!) to help you practise the skill.

11:00 – 12:00 Maths (SEND IN)

LO:  To use fractions to express proportions.

In this lesson you will be using fractions to express proportions.

Task:

  1. Follow the main teaching in the video.  Make sure you pause the video when prompted to complete the questions throughout.  See the worksheet attached where I have copied each task into a Word document that you can type straight onto, under the heading ‘guided practice’.
  2. Complete the independent task on the worksheet, then mark your own work after you have completed the task: the teacher goes through the answers with you in the video. 
  3. Finally, complete the exit quiz.

LO: Recognising Decimal Hundredths (Part 1)

 Task:

  1. Have a go at the intro quiz.
  2. Watch the video and work through the lesson, where you will represent hundredths using fractions and decimals and accurately read decimals hundredths.
  3. Complete the ‘independent practise’ by representing each decimal as a fraction and using Dienes pictures.  Complete the – ‘What could my decimal be’.  
  4. Have a go at the exit quiz.

 

1:00 – 2:00 RE

LO: To create a symbol representing a value.

In this lesson you will be looking at how The British Humanist Society’s symbol reflects its values.

Task:

  1. Read through the information on the PowerPoint about The British Humanist Society’s symbol and its core values.
  2. Complete either task 1 or 2:
  • Task 1: Choose a value that is important to you and design a symbol to represent it.
  • Task 2: Create a Happy Human symbol collage by combining multiple Happy Human symbols, which you can colour and cut out from the Happy Humans Symbols Sheet (if you have a printer) or you could trace them from a screen.

2:00 – 3:00 SCIENCE

LO: To explore what micro-organisms are and how they can be grouped.

In this lesson, you will explore the other 3 kingdoms of the classification system, separate to animals and plants and learn that there are millions of other living organisms all around us that we can’t see.

Task:

  • Read through the information on the slideshow.
  • Create a poster, using the template to explain to someone else what micro-organisms are.
