Tuesday 12th

Good Morning Year 2!

I hope you are ready for another day of home learning! Today your lessons are; Maths, English, poetry, handwriting, reading, P.E and PSHE.

I would like to see your Maths, English and handwriting work.  If you would like to send me any of your other work that you have completed that would be awesome!

Mrs Bennett

Maths

Chapter 5 Lesson 6

Learning Objective: To be able to solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of lengths and heights.

To begin look at the In Focus task from the textbook and talk through the question. What is the whole length that Lulu wants to swim? What do you already know and then what they still need to find out?

* Use the Let’s Learn from the textbook section to work out a take away calculation and to find the answer.  Then continue to solve the problems.

* Talk through what information they already know and what it is they need to find out. Underline/highlight any key information that appears in the questions.

* As you progress through the questions, ask what the calculations might be for each problem before having a go at completing them.

Now it’s your turn!  Have a go at the Independent Practice in the workbook, which is a copy of the worksheet that you would have completed in your MNP (Maths No Problem) workbooks at school.

There is no need to print off your work but please number your questions and answers.

I have also included the answer sheets.

Please could email your work to year2@leigh.covmat.org

Mrs Malone’s group – Maths review 2

English

Please read the information sheet to find out what today’s work is.

Please send in your work to year2@leigh.covmat.org

Mrs Malone’s group

Today we are working on and revising words that we know.  Follow the worksheet to practice these spellings.

Poetry

Read and listen to the poem ‘My friend Elsie’ by Michael Rosen.

Listen to the poem and read along at the same time.  Listen to it a few times and then see if you can join in reciting it.  Can you add expression, actions and see if you can perform it to an audience?  Can you perform it without any help?

There is no need to send anything in but if you would like to send in a performance of the poem then I would love to see it!

Handwriting

Have a go at the words on the handwriting sheet.

There is no need to print out the sheet.  Just copy each word.  Can you put these words into a sentence?

Please send in your handwriting to year2@leigh.covmat.org

PE

As it’s a Tuesday it’s PE day! Mr Ashby would like you to have a go at playing the bean game!

Click the link to see how to play.

You could also have a go at a cosmic kids yoga.  Perhaps this one?

PSHE

This terms topic is Dreams and Goals.

Mrs Entwhistle would like you to think about what you would like to be when you grow up.  You can either print off the sheet or draw your own gingerbread person shape.

Think about what you might like to be when you grow and why?

When you have thought about what you might like to be design the gingerbread person shape into what you would like to be when you grow up.
