Please send in your maths, English and RE work today. We can do this!

Please be aware I am in the classroom this week, so responses to work will not be immediate.

Maths

LO: To be able to solve multiplication and division word problems

Wow you all did so well at this yesterday and tried so hard! We're going to carry on with this today. If you need some help you can still go back to the youtube video I made yesterday for support.

Have a look at the word problems: are there any words that give you a clue of what you have to do? What numbers are part of the problem? Identifying these is the first step of doing word problems! If you are able to do that, you can answer the word problem! If you're struggling to visualise it, remember our work on bar models too - these can be very useful to work it out!

Have a look at the in-focus question. How do you think you could work it out? As you would usually do this in your pairs, see if you can talk to an adult or an older sibling about your thoughts. Use the empty box to explain your thoughts.

Next, have a look at the guided practice. Can you work out how those answers were gained? Have a go at working them out yourselves to see if your method is correct.

Finally, have a go at the worksheet provided - it is 2 sheets, the minimum expectation is one sheet, but just like in class, try and have a go at the second one too!

Reading

LO: To answer questions on the text

This week, we are going to be reading the book ‘Wings'

Today, you are going to read chapter 2 and then complete the online quiz. I will be able to see if you have done this activity so there is no need to send me your quiz results! I can also see how long you spend reading, so no pretending to read and then doing the quiz!

You each have your own log in which I will be sending to your adults to give to you. I will send it via marvellous me – if it doesn’t come through please email me at year4@leigh.covmat.org and I will send it to you there!

English

LO: To edit our work

Yesterday, you were tasked with writing your story, starting with the Trolls and the Bogeys forming a band. Sometimes it helps to look back at your work the next day. I would like you to read through your work and consider these questions to edit:

  • Have you included all the sections you planned into your story? If not, keep writing!
  • Could you add any adjectives?
  • Could you add any adverbs?
  • Are you using a range of punctuation?
  • Double check your spellings.

Usually, we edit using a purple pen in school – I understand you may not have a purple pen at home, so therefore you can use any coloured pen/pencil to edit your work, just ensure that it is readable! Send a picture of your work to me once you have made edits.

RE

LO: To discuss what different religions do

So far, we have looked at right and wrong within Christianity, Judaism, as well as looked at what the golden rule is.

Have a look at the link below to find out what 'Humanism' is.

Once you've looked into this, please complete the sheet below! You need to answer 4 questions (all of which we have covered) and then consider what you would do in the situations below. What do you think would be the 'right' choice for you?

French

LO: To say what our favourite animal is

Can you remember the names of animals in French? Have a practice with the resources below. If your favourite animal has not been listed, maybe you could look up how to say it! For example, as you all know, I love otters. I've looked up what otter is in French and discovered it is, 'loutre'.

Today we are going to be working out how to say 'my favourite animal is'. Have a go below!

mon animal préféré est une loutre!
