Week Beginning 13th February 2023
This week we have celebrated Valentine’s Day, learnt about Firefighters and how they help us, had some very special visitors and also learnt all about Pancake Day!
Tuesday was Valentine’s Day. We learnt about how and why we celebrate Valentine’s Day. We made some Valentine’s cards, collaged hearts and talked about who we love.
There were Valentine’s hearts hidden all around Forest School this week! We had fun trying to find them all and working out how to get the ones we couldn’t reach!
We learnt all about Firefighters and watched some videos of real firefighters in action!

On Thursday we had some very special visitors...
We learnt about Shrove Tuesday and why we call it ‘Pancake Day’. We discussed how people celebrate Shrove Tuesday and how Lent is a special time for Christians. We talked about what ingredients are needed to make pancakes and what you might put on top of a pancake. We all said what our favourite toppings are! We read some stories about pancakes, such as ‘Mr Wolf’s Pancakes’ and ‘The Runaway Pancake’! We enjoyed tasting pancakes and chose some toppings to put on them. We talked about what we like and don’t like.
We also had fun making playdough pancakes and designing our own pancakes by cutting and sticking different toppings on!
