Week Beginning 6th November 2023

This week we have been settling back in to Nursery after our half-term break. We have been learning about Bonfire Night!

We’ve been getting creative this week!

We created firework pictures using chalk on black paper. We looked carefully at pictures of real fireworks and thought about the shapes and colours.

We made glitter firework pictures. We created firework patterns using PVA glue then shook glitter over the top. When we tipped our paper up our firework pictures were revealed!

Look at our super playdough fireworks! We particularly enjoyed making Catherine Wheels by rolling the playdough into a sausage shape then curling it round into a spiral!

We created bonfires using our handprints...

We learnt a counting song called ‘5 Little Fireworks Standing in a Row’. Each time one of the rockets ‘blasted off’ we had to work out how many were left. We all enjoyed having a turn at being a rocket!

We enjoyed making firework patterns in the glitter with our fingers and paintbrushes!

We made shape rockets! We had to cut out the shapes and arrange them to create a rocket. We were really good at naming the different shapes and Miss Haslam was so impressed with our cutting skills!

To help develop our pencil control, we completed these firework handwriting sheets where we had to carefully join the dots to create different patterns.

On Friday we learnt about Remembrance Day. We joined in with the Academy's 2 minutes silence and thought about all the brave soldiers that have fought for our country and helped to keep us safe. We made poppies to wear on our jumpers and made poppy biscuits which were delicious!
