MATHS

Chapter Consolidation

Today, is the last lesson of Fractions before we start decimals after the half term holiday.  Next week is review week.  You will be completing the unit review, just like you would in our Maths lessons at school.  Before you start, think about the methods and strategies you have used during the last few weeks.  For example, when adding or subtracting you need to make a common denominator, but you don’t add the denominators together.  When comparing or ordering you will again need to find a common denominator.  Please watch the video which explains how to find common denominators if you need a reminder (I sent the link on Marvellous Me).  Make jottings and bar models if you need to and show your working out.  Please send your unit review answers to me.

ENGLISH

LO: to write a biography

For our final piece of English work this week I want you to write a biography of Shaun Tan.  To help you lay out your work I have attached some examples of biographies.  Biographies are written about someone else and therefore would be written in third person.  You will need to research Shaun Tan – finding out important details such as date of birth, where he was born, how he became a writer, how many books he has written etc.  Features of a biography that you will need to include are: a title, subtitles, illustrations/pictures with captions, fact boxes with interesting short facts and as a challenge a timeline.  Biographies are written in chronological order.  Please email me your work today.

READING

The Curious Case of Dr Salamander – Chapter Five

If you haven’t read the previous chapters, you will need to catch up before starting today’s lesson.

Today, you will need to read the final chapter of The Curious Case of Dr Salamander, rate the book and complete the quiz.  Your task today is to write a summary of the book, similar to a blurb but with much more detail.  I expect at least two paragraphs of interesting writing to entice other children to read the book (reading domain 2c: summarise main ideas from more than one paragraph).

There is a link for the pre-printed sheet if you would like to use it.

‘Catch Up’

Use this time to catch up with any work you didn’t get a chance to do throughout the week, do some extra practise with something you found challenging or to investigate an area you found interesting.

Wellbeing

And BREATH!  Take some time to feel proud of yourself and recognise how well you have done.  Choose an activity that you love doing, like colouring, drawing, playing a game, cooking or reading and ENJOY IT.  We are ALL proud of you.  You really deserve this time for you!
