Maths

LO: To use our knowledge of multiplication and division

You have worked hard this chapter to understand multiplication and division! You have worked on the basics and built on that to column multiplication, long division, and word problems! 

Today, you need to work independently on the below tasks. There is a maths journal problem instead of a focus question; have a go at writing your own word problems. 

No guided practice today, because you need to have a go independently at the tasks. These are all problems you have faced over the past few weeks. Don't worry if you can't do some of them - the important thing is that you give them a good try! 

Reading

LO: To answer questions on the text

This week, we are going to be reading the book ‘Wings'

Today, you are going to read chapter 3 and then complete the online quiz. I will be able to see if you have done this activity so there is no need to send me your quiz results! I can also see how long you spend reading, so no pretending to read and then doing the quiz!

You each have your own log in which I will be sending to your adults to give to you. I will send it via marvellous me – if it doesn’t come through please email me at year4@leigh.covmat.org and I will send it to you there!

English

LO: To evaluate

You should now have finished writing your story as well as editing it! Well done! I have attached below our evaluation sheet. The children should know how to evaluate their work as we have done this many times in class! Don’t be afraid to ask an adult if something is an adjective or an adverb if you need support. Send me a picture of your evaluation, your score and your target for what you want to include next time. Remember, I will not accept ‘ to get more points’ or ‘to write more’ – you need to tell me what you are going to do to improve your work using the success criteria (the bits you are evaluating against).

LO: To experiment with waterproofing 

Today we are going to be looking at a new invention: the mackintosh! Ever wondered how your waterproof coat came to be? Time to find out! Have a look at the slides below!

After you have gone through the slides, please ask your adults to load the youtube video they have been sent - I wonder what your prediction will be today! 

Multiplication practice!

Today in multiplication practice, we will be practicing our 9 times tables. There are some tricks you can use to learn your nines, have a look at them below! After this, have a go at the sheet attached. Please remember you can always go on TTRocks for further practice!
