Week Beginning 4th December 2023

This week we have been learning about how and why we celebrate Christmas.  We learnt the Nativity story about how Jesus was born in a stable.  We’ve also had Christmas Jumper Day, Christmas Dinner, our Festive Friday event and a visit from someone VERY special!

We have been learning the Nativity story this week. We learnt about how Mary and Joseph travelled to Bethlehem and Mary had a baby in a stable. His name was Jesus and he was the son of God. We talked about how Christians celebrate Christmas because this was the day Jesus was born.

We made our own Nativity scenes by cutting and sticking pictures of the characters in the story into a stable and also made masks of the different characters in the story.

Here we are doing a Nativity number matching activity. We had to carefully count the number of dots on each angel, then find the matching number and stick it on to the picture.

Miss Haslam taught us how to make snowflakes. We were really careful snipping the shapes into our paper and when we opened the paper out it was like magic! We then added glitter to our beautiful snowflakes to make it look like they were glistening.

On Thursday we had Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas Dinner Day! We loved wearing our Christmas jumpers to school and enjoyed doing some special activities like designing our own Christmas jumper!

We had a delicious Christmas dinner, thank you Mr Brown!

After Christmas dinner we had a surprise visitor! We thought we heard a clatter on the roof and then Santa appeared in our classroom! It was so exciting! We all told him what we'd like for Christmas and we sang 'When Santa Got Stuck Up The Chimney' to him! He told us all to be very good boys and girls and he might come and leave us some presents on Christmas Eve!

In PE this week we were moving in different ways to match emotions. We had to think about how we might move if we were happy, sad, excited or cross.

At the end of PE Mr Merriman gives a certificate to somebody who he thinks has done really well in PE, has listened beautifully and tried their best. This week he awarded it to Joseph! Well done Joseph!

It was Festive Friday in Nursery and Reception this week! We had a really fun morning doing lots of Christmas crafts with our grown ups then we performed some Christmas songs to them!

Busy Learning...
