Week Beginning 20th November 2023

We've been talking about birthdays this week and how we celebrate them. We learnt about how birthdays are celebrated in different countries and discussed how it is the same or different to the way we celebrate in the UK.  Here are some interesting facts we learnt:

  • In Canada, children sometimes have butter rubbed on their noses when it's their birthday!
  • In Russia, they pull their ears, to the age of the birthday girl/boy, then say "Grow up, don't be noodles"!
  • In Vietnam, everybody's birthday is celebrated on the same day!

On Monday we had our next 'Drop Everything And Read' (DEAR) event at Leigh Academy. Our grown-ups were invited into school to join in with Story Time!

Here we are doing 'Dough Disco'! Miss Haslam puts some music on and we dance and do different exercises with the playdough to help make our fingers strong and develop our 'fine motor skills'. We do squeezing, patting, rolling, poking, pinching, chopping and twisting. It's so much fun, we love it!

Look at our beautiful 'Kindness Heart' we've made! Following on from Anti-bullying week last week, we've been talking about how important it is to have 'kind hands' and to look after others. We all used our 'kind hands' to make handprints on a heart to show in Nursery we are all kind and look after each other.

We have 3 prayers we say each day - a morning prayer, a lunchtime prayer and a hometime prayer. We know that Christians believe praying is the way we talk to God.

Here we are saying our prayers...

On Tuesday afternoons, when Miss Haslam is planning what we are going to do next week, we have PSHE and PE. In PSHE this week we learnt about Road Safety and in PE with the Sport's Coaches, we were learning how to move in different ways and how to jump and land safely.

We have been doing some super learning in 'Busy Learning' time this week. We know during this time it's important we are all 'busy' and 'learning'.  Miss Haslam and Miss Bennett are so proud of how we remember this and are all so engaged with different activities!
