Week Beginning 13th November 2023

This week has been ‘Anti-Bullying Week’. In Nursery we have been thinking about kindness and talking about why it’s important to be kind and how we can show kindness to others.  Friday was Children In Need Day and we learnt about how it’s a special day to raise money for children that aren’t as lucky as us. It’s also been ‘World Nursery Rhyme Week’ and we’ve been singing and acting out lots of nursery rhymes! We have also been learning about Diwali! It's been a very busy week!

On Monday in PSHE with Mrs Entwistle we talked about Anti-bullying week and what this meant. We discussed the importance of celebrating our differences and being kind to others even if they are different from you. We all made a plate and talked about how they all looked different but that's ok.

Over the week we have read lots of stories that have made us think about how to be kind friends and the importance of being kind to others.

We played a game where we had to roll a ball to somebody and say something kind to them. We talked about how it makes us feel when somebody is kind to us and how we can help others feel happy by being kind with our words.

This week we have been learning about the Hindu festival ‘Diwali’.

We learnt all about Diwali and how and why it is celebrated.  Here are some of the Diwali activities we did over the week, including creating our own rangoli and mehndi patterns.

We learnt the story of Rama and Sita and were so surprised to receive a letter from them the next day!  They sent us some clay to make Diya lamps like the ones that were put out to lead them back to their kingdom and celebrate their return.

We've really enjoyed participating in 'World Nursery Rhyme Week' this week. We've focused on a different rhyme each day:

Monday - Jack and Jill

Tuesday - Hickory Dickory Dock

Wednesday - Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

Thursday - Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Friday - The Wheels Of The Bus

We particularly enjoyed making crowns then singing along to Jack and Jill, pretending to fall down the hill and break our crowns like Jack!

This half term's Prayer Corner theme is 'Mirrors'. It encourages us to think about what we like about ourselves and how we are special. We understand that God loves everyone.

Look at our super ‘Let's Celebrate’ display in the classroom! We’re all becoming very creative and are learning lots of different techniques to create pictures.
