Monday 18th January

Good Morning year 2!

I hope you’re ready for a new week of learning.  Today you are going to have Maths, English, Computing, Science, Music.

Please send me your Science, Maths and English.

Daily Reading

Although we are not able to change your books at school every day, you do need to practice your reading skills.  Make time to do 10 minutes of reading with your adults before the end of the day.  I am sure you have plenty of books on your bookshelves.  Let me know if you read any really exciting ones that you think I might like!

Below is a link to oxford owl where an account has been created to provide the children with some ebooks.

Username: Leighclass2

Password: Book1234

I have also included some instructions below about how to log in if you face any difficulty.

Maths

Send in your work to year2@leigh.covmat.org

Mrs Bennett’s group

To start, look at the In Focus task and discuss the question.

How do we find out how heavy things are? What sort of things do we use?

Look around your home to look for objects.  Compare the weight of these by holding them at the same time on your hands.  If you have access to some scales weigh the objects you have found so you can see exactly how much the objects weigh.  Explain the abbreviation 'kg' for kilogram.

Now it is your turn!

Have a go at the ‘Independent Practice’ which is a copy of the worksheet that you would have completed in your workbooks at school. During this work, discuss each problem. Concentrate on how the mass of an object can be found using different weighing scales.  Can you complete the questions on your own?

Good luck!

Mrs Malone’s group

Please complete the review.  This is using all the knowledge that you have learned.  Please try and complete the sums on your own but an adult may read the questions to you.

There are 2 sheets.

Sheet 1: Can you create number sentences using the numbers given?

Sheet 2: Can you match the numbers with the words?

English

Send in your English work to year2@leigh.covmat.org

Today you will be writing your own fairy tale.  Please read the instructions to help you complete today’s work.   There is also a video link explanation that I have sent to everyone via Marvellous Me.

There is a PDF and powerpoint version of the lesson to follow.   There are also 3 worksheets to choose from.  Pick the one is the most helpful for you.  There is no need to print your sheet off.

I would like to see wonderful presentation, using your phonics, including punctuation and WOW words.

Mrs Malone’s group

Complete the sheet and return.

Can you complete it without any help?

Computing

Today you are going to find answers to two questions that you have thought of.

Read the powerpoint to help you with the lesson.

Remember to keep your answers safe!

Science

Today is lesson 3 in our Spring term topic of Growth and Survival.

I would like you to read through the slides and answer or discuss the questions being asked.  Then complete the work that has been set.

Your work today is to draw the stages of a human from baby to an adult.  Use the words provided to help you fill in the labels with the correct spellings.

There is no need to print off the sheets. You can copy and complete onto paper.

Please return your work to year2@leigh.covmat.org

Music

Listen, watch and follow Ms Glover’s music lessons.
