Maths:
L.O: to add pounds and pence with renaming
Todays lesson is similar to yesterday, we will be adding pounds and pence. The columns are set out for you today, don’t forget to do the pounds and pence separately and then put them together at the end.
To start with answer your ‘In Focus’ question which is on the first page. As we would normally discuss this with our partners at school, see if there is an adult or older brother or sister to talk to about it. Please use the box on this page record your answer and methods.
Next look at the ‘Guided Practice’ which shows you some of the different style questions. I have left the answers on the worksheet so you can see the setting out and how to go about answering these types of questions
.
Now it is your turn! Have a go at the ‘Independent Practice’ which is a copy of the worksheet that you would have completed in your MNP workbooks at school.
If you feel up for it, have a go at the challenge! Good luck!
Please could you email this piece of work to me.
English:
L.O: to write a discussion
We will be continuing our work on discussion texts today by writing up our discussion that we started to make notes on yesterday: which is the best pet, a cat or a dog?
Begin by writing an introduction explaining what the discussion is about, then alternate points for each side. Don’t forget to make it balanced!
Useful language:
Some people think that… However… On the other hand… Another point of view is… To sum things up…

For reading today we will continue to read ‘Lost in Space’ on Fiction Express. If you are unsure of your login, please email me at year3@leigh.covmat.org and I will resend it.
We will read the fifth chapter called, ‘Team Work!’, so please select this as you open the book. If you need to remind yourself of what happened previously then you should go back a few pages to reread this. At the end, rate the book out of five stars.
For today’s task please complete the multiple-choice quiz. You can choose between completing it online or downloading it and printing it out. It is useful if you do this online as I have access to view everybody’s answers.
Science:
L.O: to explore soil
Look through the slides and think about any questions that are asked. Read through the information about what soil is, how it is formed and why it is important. Just like rocks, there are different types of soil. Similar to how we organised rocks, we can also organise soil in different ways, think about how you might do this.
For your task today, see if you can find three different soil samples, look outside (garden, woods etc) and around the house (plants) and then label them A, B and C. Spend some time looking at each sample of soil, what they look like, how they feel, the size of the particles. Then, draw, describe and rate these on the worksheet.
French:
L.O: to say animal plurals
Today we will be looking at how to say more than one animal in French. Use the PowerPoint to listen to and practise saying animal plurals out loud.
After this, look at the worksheet below and read the animal phrases in the thought bubbles and draw the number of animals in the boxes.
