Week Beginning 29th January 2024

This week we have been focusing on zoo animals as part of our 'All Creatures Great & Small' theme this half term.

On Monday we played a game called 'Who's At The Zoo?'

We had to use our best listening ears to listen to an animal sound, then guess what animal it was. We did some super listening and guessed all the animals correctly! We then had a go playing the game independently during Busy Learning time.

In PE this week we were moving in different ways and practising our balancing skills using beanbags. Well done to Levi and Reina who won the PE award from Mr Merriman and Mr Price this week!

On Wednesday we played a fun game with Mrs Muchereti! We had to look through our binoculars and guess what animals we could see. We then talked about each animal and shared our knowledge. We were especially good at making the animal noises!

This week we read the story 'Dear Zoo'. We loved guessing what animals were under each flap then had a go at retelling the story together. Some of us then made puppets of our favourite characters from the story.

We’ve been moving to music in different ways. It was really good exercise! We practised jogging, jumping, tiptoeing, galloping, skipping, spinning and walking backwards.  Afterwards we were a bit hot and sweaty, we were panting and our hearts were beating fast so we knew we’d done some super exercise!  We talked about how important it is to drink water to stay healthy, especially after exercise.

We have been talking about how to be brilliant learners this week. We’re trying to be creative, think of our own ideas, be independent, try our best and persevere. We’ve learnt that persevering means not giving up, even if we find something tricky.

Here we are displaying some of those qualities in our Busy Learning time!
