Addition. We are continuing to add two sets together today, this time we will be using the part-whole model. Copy or print the part whole model below. Use the pictures from yesterday, your job is to draw the two sets on your model. The bottom circles will be each set representing the parts. In the top circle, draw all of them together-the whole. You will need to have big circles to fit in your drawings.

Thinking back to the story of The Giant Turnip, choose your favourite part and write a sentence about it e.g. ‘The man planted the seed in his garden’ or ‘The great big turnip was stuck’. Remember to sound out your words using Fred-fingers. Leave a finger space between each word. Read your sentence-does it make sense?
