This week we have continued learning about minibeasts and their habitats.
We have done lots of super ‘Busy Learning’, including lots of minibeast learning activities.
We’ve been trying hard to ‘persevere’ in our Busy Learning time and not give up on activities until we’ve tried our best or have finished them, especially if we find them tricky! We are becoming brilliant independent learners! Take a look at all the amazing learning we’ve been doing…
We’re really enjoying learning how to read and write letter sounds in Phonics. Phonics is taught through a scheme called ‘Read Write Inc’ at Leigh Academy. This week we have learnt the sounds ‘m’, ‘a’ and ‘s’.
We have been practising our ‘Fred Talking’ this week too. Fred the Frog puppet plays an important role in our Read Write Inc lessons. Fred is only able to speak in sounds, not whole words. We call this Fred Talk. For example, Fred would say ‘m-a –t’, we would say ‘mat’. Fred is helping us learn how to hear sounds in words and blend sounds together which will help us learn to read and write.
