Story time – check on Marvellous Me for chapter 12

Today, please return your Maths, English and theme work.

Maths

Miss Thomas’s group – today we are using our comparing skills.  We will be deciding which objects are heavier or lighter and using the some of the symbols that we have used before.  <, >, =.  Remember the small pointy end goes to the small number and the big, wide end goes to the big number

Mrs Malone’s group - read through the learning document about comparing numbers and then complete the maths work.

English

Miss Thomas’s group – Follow the instruction sheet to work through so that you can build up knowledge to help you with the tasks at the end of the lesson.  Then complete the activities.

Mrs Malone’s group

  • Review –

    • Go through speed sounds (page 4)

    • Go through the green and red word (page 5)

    • Look through the vocabulary check and find out what the sounds mean

    • Read the book faster and more fluently

  • Parents – read the sentence ‘I will catch a big, fat fish.’  Read slowly and carefully for the children to write down.  Do not give any help.

Work through the sentence together looking for capital letters, full stops and spellings.

Let's go to the Arctic

Research - Choose one of the physical features we learned about yesterday.  Use the internet to find out some facts about it and create either a piece of writing, a diagram or a poster to share your new found information.

Art - Week 3

Yesterday we started to learn about some physical features that we would find in the Arctic.  We looked at mountains and hills, icebergs and sea ice, glaciers, oceans and coastlines and rivers and lakes.

Time to get out your Arctic landscape again.  Can you add in some of these physical features to your pictures?  If you want to find out more about any of them, you can look them up on the internet.  Can you tell me what colour a glacier is on the inside?

Daily Reading

Although we are not able to change your books at school every day, you do need to practice your reading skills.  Make time to do 10 minutes of reading with your adults before the end of the day.  I am sure you have plenty of books on your bookshelves.  Let me know if you read any really exciting ones that you think I might like!!
