LO: To practise speech punctuation

This is lesson 3 of 8 in our final writing unit of the ‘Golden Compass’.  If you haven’t completed lesson 1 or 2, go back to last Friday’s lesson (lesson 1) and complete lesson 1 & 2 before attempting this lesson.  In this lesson, you will revise the rules of speech, then write speech sentences for this final scene making sure that you show character and advance the action.

Task:

1. Follow the lesson through, using the worksheet below to help you complete the mini-tasks throughout the lesson.

LO:  To generate and describe number patterns.

Make sure you have the You Tube video that goes over the ‘In Focus’, but also the ‘Guided Practice’ and the worksheet if needed.  Keep your confidence that you gained yesterday – it is still straight forward.  Just keep looking for patterns.

Task:

1. Go through the ‘In Focus’ task with me on the video. Look for patterns.
2. Complete the ‘Guided Practice’ on the worksheet, with me on the video.  Remember that you can type into the text boxes that I’ve put in for you.
3. Worksheet.  Complete up to Q4 or all of them if you are feeling confident.

LO: Identifying Patterns

In this lesson you will develop your understanding of patterns in number and the rules to follow to get from one term to the next and find missing terms.

1. Complete the ‘Maths Riddle’ and ‘To Start’ activity, if you have a printer.  If not, don’t worry. Ignore the Roman Numerals activity!
2. Watch the video and work through the main learning with sequences.   
3. Complete the independent learning on ‘Slide 4’ and ‘Slide 5’ by completing the missing terms in the sequence. 
4. Have a go at the exit quiz.

LO:  To set goals for the school year.

In this lesson you will be thinking about your dreams and goals for the end of the school year.  You will need to think about steps to reach your goal and then think how you will feel when you achieve it.

Task:

• Fill in the worksheet with details of your goal.
