Week Beginning 16th January 2023

The new children have settled really well into Nursery life and are starting to learn our rules and routines.  We have been teaching them how to share and take turns and we have all been trying hard to be kind friends to each other.  We have also been teaching them to sit and listen beautifully on the carpet.

This week we have been learning about Chinese or ‘Lunar’ New Year.  We learnt about why and how Chinese New Year is celebrated.

We listened to the Chinese Zodiac story and learnt why the years are named after different animals.  This year is the year of the rabbit!

We made dragon puppets.  We learnt how to fold paper to create the dragon’s body.  We then made our dragon puppets dance to some music like the real Chinese New Year dragon dancing!

We also made Chinese lanterns. Some of us found cutting the paper really tricky but we all tried our best and didn’t give up!

Trying Chinese writing!

We’ve been practising our gross motor skills on the climbing frames and slides outside!

Busy Learning Time!
