Wednesday 3rd February

Story time – check on Marvellous Me for chapter 17

Today you need to send in Maths, English and topic work.

Maths

Miss Thomas’s group – We are starting to look at picture graphs or pictograms this week.  Look at the ‘Learn’ sheet and then complete the worksheet.

Mrs Malone’s group – read through the learning document about adding ones and then complete the maths work.

English

Miss Thomas’s group – Follow the English learning and instructions and then complete the tasks.  When doing the written task, you can either print out the sheet to work on or you can design your own sheet on a plain piece of paper.  If you are using plain paper, ask an adult to draw you some straight lines for your writing.  It will help you to keep everything neat and tidy.

Mrs Malone’s group - You are going to be using the green book called 'The Web’ for the rest of the week.

Theme - Exploring cities and towns in the Arctic

Have a look through this week’s slide show and find out about some of the towns and cities that are above the arctic circle.

Look carefully at the pictures of the Arctic on the information sheet.  Choose one of the cities and create a fact file of it on the worksheet.  If you do not want to print out the worksheet you can create your own on a blank piece of paper.

Grammar - Similes

For those children in my English group this morning, we mentioned similes when we were describing Eric and Marcia.  They were swinging in the trees like monkeys.

A simile is a phrase that describes one thing by saying it is like something else.

Follow the Twinkl link (www.twinkl.co.uk/go) and tap in this code (MT5463)to watch a PowerPoint introduction about similes (and a recap on adjectives – describing words) and then a task to follow.

Daily Reading

Although we are not able to change your books at school every day, you do need to practice your reading skills.  Make time to do 10 minutes of reading with your adults before the end of the day.  I am sure you have plenty of books on your bookshelves.  Let me know if you read any really exciting ones that you think I might like!!
